Alo Yoga Further Bridges Its Virtual and Physical Community With Refreshed Sanctuary on Roblox

The Alo Yoga Sanctuary on Roblox is getting a refresh in partnership with Sawhorse.

Originally launched in 2022, the Alo Yoga Sanctuary was the brand’s first step into the metaverse and has been designed to bring movement and mindfulness to Roblox’s immersive gaming and creation platform and further connect players to Alo’s stores. The updated Sanctuary, open to players today, has been developed in partnership with Sawhorse and offers an updated experience with curated wellness adventures and restorative escapes.

Danny Harris, co-chief executive officer and cofounder of Alo Yoga, shared that Alo Yoga has connected with its community through Roblox with more than 117 million visits to the experience so far.

And it’s that “incredible response” that he said continues to inspire further innovation. Especially exciting, he said, is the way that Alo is bridging the “virtual and physical worlds with a first-of-its-kind activation that allows players to unlock exclusive virtual gear. This refresh underscores our commitment to innovation and to redefining wellness in both digital and real-life spaces.”

This activation, a first-of-its-kind for Roblox, essentially gamifies the retail journey. Players are invited to go beyond its digital Sanctuary with opportunities to unlock exclusive rewards and virtual gear, like the Alo G.O.A.T Jacket, through digital collectibles that hold a unique Proof of Attendance Protocol experience. Put simply, players will be able to scan a sticker equipped with near-field communication technology, or NFC, that will be displayed on store windows to access free virtual items. These items will be available only to users who go to one of Alo’s 150 retail locations.

The activation was developed in partnership with POAP Studio, the company known for creating experiences and digital collectibles for brand moments.

“POAP technology is turning retail experiences into unique digital collectibles through a Roblox integration with Alo and Sawhorse,” said Luca Verra, cofounder of POAP Studio. “This partnership shows our goal of making every real-world interaction special with digital mementos, creating a smooth flow between in-store visits and immersive spaces.”

Nic Hill, cofounder and chief innovation officer at Sawhorse, added that “Sawhorse is all about helping brands engage authentically with the Roblox community by crafting experiences that truly resonate with younger audiences and grow with the times. This latest update to Alo Sanctuary demonstrates a long-term commitment to the platform and our mission to keep things fresh, exciting and focused on the power of digital well-being.”

The refreshed Roblox Alo Sanctuary will also be further connected to the brand’s messaging for movement.

“The upcoming refresh of our Roblox experience perfectly aligns with the launch of our ‘Move Into Wellness’ campaign, emphasizing movement, recovery and mindfulness — core pillars of our brand,” Harris said. “This update introduces exciting new features, including running challenges and Alo Moves yoga and meditation content, creating a fully immersive wellness experience.”

The new immersive running experience will feature scenic roadways, sand trails and a running track with routes for every pace. Players can choose to take on the dynamic running challenge by collecting coins to complete their mission while they virtually try out Alo’s signature runners. During the challenge, players receive engaging, motivational audio clips from Alo trainer Louis Chandler.

Additional updates to the Roblox Alo Sanctuary include an upgraded gym area and the introduction of interactive Alo-branded equipment and a cold plunge experience. For relaxation and recovery, the Sanctuary has added new meditation sessions along with new immersive content for players to enjoy.

For players looking to update their avatar’s wardrobe, Alo is introducing paid items including a mesh duffle, the Make Waves set and the Alo Runner and Alo Recovery Mode sneakers. To celebrate the refresh, players will also receive free UGC items including yoga mats in new colorways and trucker hats.
